Charlie Daniels Band Coming to Indiana
The Charlie Daniels Band will perform live at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino Friday, Nov. 14 in the Terrace Showroom. Two shows will be offered, starting at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tickets for the concert will be available in Shelby’s Gifts, located on the Terrace Level at Hoosier Park, beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22 or by phone at (765) 642-7223. Ticket prices are $42.50 with a 20% discount for all Club Centaur Rewards members. 
Born in 1936 in Wilmington, NC, Charlie Daniels is primarily known for his many contributions to the country and southern rock music genres. His most famous hit, 1979’s “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” became a Platinum single after its inclusion on the soundtrack of the movie Urban Cowboy. The Grammy Award winning song has remained a hit and is still receiving major airplay on classic rock and country stations.
Other top works by Daniels include “Long Haired Country Boy,” “Uneasy Rider” and “The South’s Gonna Do It.” Daniels has also released several Gospel and Christian records.
The Charlie Daniels Band has won multiple awards over the years including being named both Instrumental Group of the Year twice by the Country Music Association and Touring Band of the Year two years in a row by the Academy of Country Music. Most recently in January 2008, Charlie Daniels received the great and prestigious honor of being inducted as a full member of the Grand Ole Opry.
