More than 24,000 Shells to Light the Sky in New Simultaneous Fireworks Shows

As more than 24,000 fireworks shells light the night’s sky over central Indiana this Independence Day, thousands of revelers will share in the same professionally arranged fireworks show in both Anderson and Shelbyville. The fully synchronized fireworks shows, at both Hoosier Park Racing & Casino in Anderson and Indiana Grand Racing & Casino in Shelbyville, will offer guests two Independence Day celebratory options.The simultaneous events are free to the public and will include a series of family-friendly activities, dining specials, and live entertainers. Festivities begin on Thursday, July 4 at 5 p.m. at Hoosier Park and 6 p.m. at Indiana Grand, with each property commencing fireworks at approximately 10 p.m.

This marks the first year the two racetrack casinos have teamed up to offer Indiana residents and visitors a unique experience for Independence Day entertainment. Each property will feature family-friendly entertainment options leading up to the fireworks presentations where more than 12,000 shells will explode in coordination with a 30-minute soundtrack. Guests can take part in free face painting, bungee trampoline rides and bounce houses, roaming magicians, and special glow-in-the-dark item and commemorative T-shirt giveaways. Multiple dining options, offering all-American classics, will line the outdoor space just outside the grandstands at both properties.

Below are the schedules for each property’s Independence Day celebration:

Hoosier Park Racing & Casino’s ‘Fire It Up on the Fourth’ Celebration

  • Family-friendly access located at racetrack South gate
  • Free family activities beginning at 5 p.m.
  • Live racing beginning at 5:30 p.m.
  • Live entertainment provided by Trop-Rock Junkies beginning at 8 p.m.
  • Fireworks will begin at approximately 10 p.m.

Indiana Grand Racing & Casino’s ‘All Stars and Stripes’ Celebration

  • Family-friendly access located at the racetrack main entrance
  • Free family activities begin at 6 p.m.
  • Live entertainment provided by The Band Torn beginning at 7 p.m.
  • Fireworks will begin at approximately 10 p.m.

Chairs and picnic tables will be available throughout both venues for convenience. Guests are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets for additional comfort, however, outside food and drinks are prohibited. In the event of rain, both properties will communicate a possible rain date.
