Chesterfield Woman Wins Grand Slam Prize
Rhonda Clevenger of Chesterfield, Ind. was the ninth weekly winner in the $1 Million Grand Slam drawing Friday, Sept. 4 at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino. The Grand Slam promotion continues through Friday, Sept. 25, offering one lucky winner a choice of five grand prizes each Friday after 10 p.m.
Rodney Prescott, Hoosier Park’s all-time leading rider and a member of the newly formed Great Eight, announced Clevenger’s name. A native of Portland, Ind., Prescott won the leading jockey title in 2006 and is currently second in the standings this season. He assisted with the presentation to Clevenger, who will have three days to decide which one of the grand prize items she will choose.
“I come out every Friday night for this promotion,” said Clevenger. “I’ve never won anything like this. I was over near the Black Jack tables watching my sister-in-law play and I heard the winner announced, but didn’t hear the name. Then, I heard them say Chesterfield and then heard Rhonda, so I walked over. I couldn’t believe it was me.”
In addition to the Grand Slam prize, Clevenger also received a $5,000 bonus for being in attendance during the drawing. All winners that are present each Friday evening when the winner is announced will be eligible for the $5,000 cash bonus.
Clevenger was accompanied by her sister-in-law Roxanne Fenwick and her son-in-law Chad Horning. She called her husband, Mike, to let him know that she had won the grand prize. The Clevengers own and operate Crack Shop Guns, located on 53rd Street in Anderson.
Club Centaur Rewards members can enter the Grand Slam promotion by swiping their card between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. on Fridays. The Grand Slam winner’s name is announced at approximately 10:15 p.m. each Friday near the Grand Slam display on the casino floor. Prizes for the promotion include the choice of a Jeep Wrangler, Chrysler Sebring Convertible, Sea-Doo Challenger Boat, Sea-Doo Jet Ski Package, or $20,000 in cash.
The Grand Slam promotion is part of a three-month series for the All Star Summer Sweepstakes at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino. Other promotions in the series include Seventh Inning Stretch cash drawings, instant win Trading cards and other prizes throughout the week.
